📜 History and Religious Significance

The temple was established in 828 AD by Bhati Rajput King Tanu Rao. It is dedicated to Tanot Rai Mata, believed to be an incarnation of Hinglaj Mata, and is worshipped by the Charan community. Locals regard Tanot Mata as the Goddess of War who protects her devotees in times of danger.

⚔️ Miracles During Wars

India-Pakistan War of 1965

During this war, Pakistan dropped more than 3,000 bombs in and around the temple area. Miraculously, none of them exploded near the temple, and it remained unharmed. This event is still considered a divine miracle.

India-Pakistan War of 1971

In the famous Battle of Longewala, which took place near Tanot, the Indian Army, with the blessings of Tanot Mata, defeated a much larger Pakistani force equipped with tanks. A Victory Pillar (Vijay Stambh) and a War Museum have been built in the temple premises to commemorate this event. You can also see unexploded bombs dropped by Pakistan in this museum.

🛕 Temple Management and Worship

Since the 1965 war, the Border Security Force (BSF) has taken over the management and worship rituals of the temple. The temple is currently administered by the Tanot Rai and Ghantiyali Mata Trust, and daily rituals are performed by army officials.
